Michael Jackson

I used to really like this song when I was a kid. The strange thing is that as a child I never quite took notice how weird MJ looked. It never made sense to me whether he had plastic surgery or if he is the "King of Pop". He was just plain Michael Jackson, a really great singer who sang the songs that I like listening.

Requiéscant in pace.

Are we a lost generation?

Simple pleasures of life

One of the best thing about a holiday is that I could just laze at home all day and not worry that I have anything that I need to catch up on eventually. Having to just lie in bed and stone can sometimes be one of the most pleasurable of human experiences.

I was just sifting through some of the photos that were taken during the Christmas holidays last year and I came across this set of photos that just pretty much illustrate all that I want to say.

Ashley's first day to the park

There was a sunny morning in Melbourne where the weather was just perfect; it was cool with light breeze, blue sky and sunny outlook; I decided that it was too good to just stay home.

On that day, Cherri was busy working on the client side and so I decided to bring Ashley out to a picnic on the Royal Botanic Gardens. I brought a nice cosy picnic throw, armed myself with Paul Tillich's book, bought a cup of skinny mocha and a apple-cinnamon muffin from around the corner and plonk myself at a nice partially-shady area by the lake.

It was Ashley's first day to the park. He was so timid. He kept clinging on to me and refuse to roam around the mat. All he did was to sit on my lap and to hide himself in the cage. I had to drag him out of the cage just to get him to stay out with me.

Interestingly, I had quite a few people coming up to me to say "how adorable" and "that's so cute" as they have never seen a cat not moving or running away from it's owner. The most frightening fans of Ashley were a couple of PRC tourists who came running (seriously sprinting) towards me, shrieking at the top of the lungs at their astonishment of Ashley's apparent 'cuteness' - "hao ke ai oo". *faint* Many of Ashley's fans did stoop down to give him a nice pat and stroke him all over. What they did not realised is that Ashley is actually extremely frightened of them and isn't really enjoying their attention. Not moving, not bitting and not meowing doesn't necessarily meant that he is happy.

Overall, it was a fantastic day out. Ashley is one of the most wonderful cats. I absolutely do not have to worry if he'll run away or be up to any mischief. If I leave him alone, he'll just go right back into the cage to watch me and I could go on reading my book. If I bring him out, he'll just sit on my lap and watch the world go by, while I continue reading.

Would any of you guys like to picnic with us?

Picnic Tip: There is a strategy to finding the perfect spot. The thing is you don't really want to under the sun but as time goes by sitting and reading with the breeze lowering your body temperature, you will need to have some sunlight. So, the trick is to find a spot where you are kinda under a tree, but part of the mat is in the sun. That way, you can get into the balmy corner when you're cold and back into the shade when you're too hot. A good tip is to find a spot where the angle of the sunlight is not too glaring as that would make reading a pain - the paper tends to blind me when sunlight is directly on the book.

A belated birthday present

Jon and Jess got me a belated birthday present when I was in Brsbane last week - a "Carl Jung Action Figure!" When I unwrapped the present, I burst out laughing. I can't believe it?! There's actually a Jungian action figure. This is one of my 'most funkiest' birthday present of all time!

Thank you very much, Jon and Jess! It is a great gift to mark the start for the next three years where I'll be spending quite a bit of time with Jung.

The inscription on the box prints, "Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves."
Now, how cool is that? ;)
